Rubén's Highlights

Rubén Acuña González is an award-winning percussionist and timpanist whose work bridges the worlds of classical, contemporary, and experimental music. He was recently appointed Principal Timpanist of the acclaimed Symphony in C for the 2025-2026 season. A Master of Music candidate at the Curtis Institute of Music and an Edward B. Garrigues Fellow, he has performed at Carnegie Hall, Geffen Hall, and the Kravis Center under renowned conductors including Yannick Nézet-Séguin.

Known for his versatility and collaborative spirit, Rubén has premiered new works with leading composers, taught at nationally recognized percussion programs, and earned top honors in national and international competitions. Bilingual in Spanish and English, a native of Tampico, Mexico, and relocated to The Woodlands, Texas, in 2011, he combines performance excellence with a passion for arts leadership, education, and community engagement.
